The Beauty of the Earth

In May, 2011, we took a trip with my other 7 siblings and spouses with Mom to Vancouver, B.C., via a cruise ship.  After three days at sea, we were glad to walk on land in some of the most beautiful places, including this garden.

Ben Stevenson, Breton Beals, Quinn Kellis, Tyler Kellis and Leir Mitchell went on a high adventure to the an area covered with abandoned mining shafts...just around sunset we came upon this very large open shaft and did our best Y.M.C.A.

4th of July home firework show, Corvallis, OR, 2011
This last summer our family traveled to Oregon for the 4th of July.  After a great day of yard games and a delicious meal, we settled in for the traditional family fireworks show.  This photo is one of a hundred that I took that night.  For a nice 3-D effect, zoom in.                                                                                                                

Gurley Street, Prescott, AZ, 9.27.2011
Prescott was the first capital city in Arizona.  This downtown is one of the most historic streets in the state and continues to be a very attractive main street town.  With Thumb Butte in the background, this photo of Gurley Street was taken in front of the old Public Library building at about high noon after I gave a presentation at a school principals conference at the nearby Prescott Resort.  After about an hour-long walking tour, including home made apple pie and ice cream at the historic Palace Restaurant on "Whiskey Row", I headed back down the hill to Phoenix.

Rumors abound and many web sites confirm that Sony is about to release a new DSLR (but not really a SLR). I was in a camera store in Oregon this summer where I was told to wait to buy anything until this one hits the shelves as a high end consumer level digital camera.  The last I read was that Japan would get it sometime in August/September, then USA will get it around November/December. I'll keep my fingers crossed!
